TAI Health Fair
January 11, 2003

The TAI Health Fair on January 11th was a great success! The guests enjoyed our lectures during the Educational Seminar and enjoyed an opportunity to pose questions to a panel of doctors between lectures. The Health Fair included representatives from St. Jude Medical, Guidant, and Medtronic. Guests were offered an opportunity to view the TXAI website and our book “Implantable Defibrillator Therapy: A Clinical Guide.”
Dr. Antonio Pacifico started the Seminar with an introduction to the Texas Arrhythmia Institute. He described the goals of the Texas Arrhythmia Institute, and highlighted recent news from the Institute. Dr. Philip Henry explained the importance of exercise and activity in relation to the heart. After the panel of doctors answered questions from the audience, Dr. Pacifico returned to discuss the role that food plays in a healthy heart condition, with an emphasis on new studies showing the positive influence of fatty acids found in certain plants and fish. Dr. Anton Nielsen followed with an informative discourse on the cause and effects of atrial fibrillation. Dr. Nadim Nasir Jr. educated the audience on the role and function of pacemakers in modern heart care. Dr. Pacifico concluded the Seminar by offering closing remarks.
Between each lecture a panel comprised of Antonio Pacifico, Valentina Ugolini, Anton Nielsen, Nadim Nasir Jr., Philip Henry, John Isaac, and Stanley Duchman answered questions from our guests. Many guests felt that this Health Fair was helpful and appreciated the opportunity to attend. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next Health Fair and Educational Seminar on July 26, 2003.
As always we would appreciate comments and suggestions for our next seminar.
