Dr. Anton Nielsen, a native of New York City, is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Nielsen was elected membership into Phi Eta Sigma honor society as a freshman and Phi Lambda Upsilon honorary chemical society as a senior while matriculating at Duke University as an Undergraduate. He attended Medical School at Duke University as well, where he was elected membership into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national honor medical society in 1976. Dr. Nielsen remained in Durham as a Cardiology Research Fellow and in 1979 he received his degree in Internal Medicine. Dr Nielsen remained at Duke as a Junior and Senior Research Assistant Resident in Medicine at the Duke University Medical Center. Dr Nielsen then moved to Houston, Texas to attend the Baylor College of Medicine where he completed his Fellowship in Cardiology in 1983. In 1983, he was also awarded the Albert S. Hyman Fellowship in area of Cardiac Pacing while attending Baylor College of Medicine which he completed in 1984.
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, Dr. Nielsen is also certified in the area of Cardiac Pacing by the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. Dr Nielsen is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. He holds staff appointments at The Methodist Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center, The Methodist Willowbrook Hospital and Tomball Regional Hospital. Dr. Nielsen is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology. He is also been an active member of the Cardiology QA and the Cardiac Angioplasty Peer Review Committees at The Methodist Hospital for over a decade.
Dr. Nielsen has published manuscripts, abstracts and a book chapter in the area of Cardiology. He is married, the father of 2 daughters and an avid mountain climber.
